Ques - What's the difference between administration and management?
Ans - When Noah got the animals into the Ark, two by two, that was administration. When Noah said "Don't let the elephants see what the rabbits are doing!", that was management.

i found out that in a local congregation the service overseer has directed that magazines not be given by jws to:.
a) inactive jws.
b) return visits that are not coming to the meetings after 6 months.
Here in England, nothing has changed.
The magazines are still issued to publishers according to their individual order.
There is no restriction on how many magazines anyone has or what he/she does with them.
One brother has an equal number of all three magazines, (20 each) so he must be placing study copies with non witnesses but no one bothers.
However, the number of magazines ordered per month has fallen substantially over the past year and that also includes foreign language magazines.

can anyone verify, but aren't those supposed to be trashed?
there are no pre 1950's wt in there anymore.
i saw that book there though, wondering if once an elder realizes it, will it be trashed or not?
Our KH had a very extensive library until we had a new quick build a few years ago. One of the elders dumped most of the library at the local tip without informing people so they were lost forever. The only real gems rescued were the WT reprints (1879-1922) by a brother who is 'taking care of them'. Incidently I saw a single volume of the reprints on Ebay sold recently for just over £150. Probably not the best selection for a JW get together!

i tried searching the site to see if this has been commented on before, but i didn't see anything...hope i'm not asking a duplicate question.... at any rate, i was a born-in, so the elders that disfellowshipped me are the same ones that baptized me and the same ones that came to visit my parents when i was born...needless to say, they knew who i was and that i was not operating under a fake name or whatnot... .
for those who were not so lucky as to grow up around the exact same group of tyrannical men...is there any sort of identification that the elders require before granting a person "privileges"...does any sort of "proof" have to be presented before they baptize people to show they are who they say they are?
i.e., picture id, birth cert....anything?.
Maybe they realized that they were refusing a book to people who they had willingly baptized at ages much less than 25 years. There have also been people baptized at less than 15 years in a number of cases.
Ironic indeed - you can get baptized at what age you want, but cannot have this stupid book???
Is there a bit of a misunderstanding here JWoods? I remember the assembly release also. It was a case of having to have been baptized for a minimum period of 25 years, then when they had all been served by the Sunday, those who had been baptized for a period of 15 years. Interestingly here in the UK nobody ever asked for ID or proof of baptism date, though I guess you would have to look 30+ to get one.

Sorry the embedding is disabled on that, but still worth a watch
being raised in the jehovah's witnesses for 44 years ( exited 7 years ago ) - i observed many different variables that made each witness tick or operate.
but one of the most common variables was witnesses wanting to excel in progressing to positions becoming elders, ministerial servants, or pioneers because then and only then would they be looked at as allegedly " spiritual " or closer to jehovah.
but i learned as years went by that having a " position " in the congregation didn't make a person anymore " spiritual " or closer to god than witnesses who were not in appointed positions.. myself- having been appointed a ministerial servant at the tender baby age of 20 yrs.
Most of the 'appointed men' I know have no education beyond basic schooling and work in window cleaning, office cleaning, carpet shampooing, janitorial, dustbin man type of jobs. With no disrespect to people who do these jobs whatever, in the case of JW's it is a way they can dress up in a suit, which they never do at work, and also have some 'authority'.
If you have had, or have a professional life, such things perhaps do not have the appeal.

people, please don't be angry at me, but do you sometimes ask yourselves this question?
i do..
If they are 100% correct, would you want to spend FOREVER with them, under the rule of the WTS?
